Deep, Deeper, Deeper Still

consciousness

Taking time out for ourselves just to sit quietly has become a luxury many of us cannot afford these days. There is just no time, we argue. A never ending ‘to do’ list.

It might be surprising however to find that it is when I give time to connect with my innermost self, that I will be able to ‘generate’ more time.

By diving deep into my inner world, I move away from the surface of my mind where I am subject to the turbulent effects of external influences. In the depths of the self I am the captain of my mind. In the still waters within I am reconciled with my own peace and stillness. My thoughts slow down. There is a sense of calm and clarity.

As I re-surface from the depths within, I sense a change in the nature of my thoughts ….fewer in quantity but greater in quality. With few but powerful thoughts my capacity for handling tasks and responsibilities has grown manifold.

Invest in ‘quiet time’ regularly and reap the reward……fewer thoughts, powerful thoughts.

Cloudy or Clear?

cloudy_clear

Do you ever wonder why people misunderstand you or get the wrong message when you communicate?

The first reaction to miscommunication is ‘I already told them. Were they not listening?’ Yet so often they did listen but what was communicated was not clear.

When we communicate we describe what our mind perceives. The mind holds thoughts and expectations which colours our vision. We often take basic details for granted. We don’t see them and thus they are not communicated.

It is not about how much information is given, as too many words can be confusing and overloading. It is about the clarity, completeness and accuracy of what is given.

Think before you communicate, use words wisely and listen to what you say. Waste no words – each one should be necessary and valuable, leaving no room for doubt. There will be no extra, irrelevant, comments, opinions or remarks to cloud the issue.

Regular meditation acts as a refining process which brings clarity to all expressions – verbal and subtle – until it becomes the natural way of thinking and being. The more I learn to go into silence and experience peace and clarity of the mind, the more I will have the ability to communicate clearly, wisely and appropriately.

Arjuna

Arjuna is the name given to the great warrior in the Indian epic of the Mahabharat.

He was known for his clarity, concentration, focused aim and fearless determination. He was known to be the one who took the first step with courage.

Spiritually Arjuna represents the ability of the intellect to remain stable, clear and courageous. Otherwise the intellect can be easily pulled in many directions and then there will be questions, confusion and many, many options.
Clarity and stability come when there is an aim which is defined and understood.

When the aim of life is not understood clearly then we wander aimlessly searching something. For happiness maybe, wealth maybe, love maybe or maybe something else.

When the aim is clear, the journey becomes focused and then the destination is close.

Be Arjuna today!

Om Shanti
