Spring Cleaning for the Soul

I awaken from the slumber of winter.

Time to blow away the cobwebs of worries, doubts and fears
Brush off the dust of resentments and regrets
The past is the past

It’s time to open the windows and let the light in
The light of God and the might of God!
I am coloured by the power of His presence.

The light within once again sparkles
Bringing love, peace and power within
And leaving a beautiful fragrance of happiness for all to share

Let each day be Spring!

Body or Soul?

i-believe

When I am in the consciousness of the body, this role and personality that is visible, then everything is based on a physical reality. My happiness, love and even my security comes from a physical dimension.

All that is physical is temporary. Even this body is temporary and one day it will no longer remain. I therefore remain in the shadow of fear – the fear of losing that which I have or the fear on not achieving that which I ‘need’.

In the consciousness of soul I am connected to the spirit. My needs are fulfilled from a spiritual source within the self and from the Supreme – both of which are eternal and immortal. I become detached from all that is physical. I am here and I use the physical but there is no dependency and hence there is no fear of losing anything. I remain stable and content.

Let me learn to remain soul conscious.

Fear is an Illusion!

boxed_inFear is definitely an illusion – It is not real. It is generated through our thoughts and manifests in our feelings.

Our thoughts create a story in the mind which then generates fear. Even though the story has not yet unfolded – and may never do so, we create and experience that fear by just thinking about it. There may be a very real possibility of danger in our story, but fear is a choice.

We can either live our dreams or live our fears. For many of us we find our living is based on a foundation of fears!!
Our fears are essentially the anxiety of how to deal with the unknown – loosing face, being wrong, failure. Getting clarity on the root cause of fear will help diffuse the ticking anxiety bombs and release our creative power.

When there is darkness there can be a lot of fear. To eliminate fear we need to bring light – the light of awareness, of understanding and enlightenment.

Let us make a choice to bring light into our fear.
Om Shanti

Change is the only Constant

change

Try as we will nothing ever stays the same. Each moment that passes is a new one. And yet so often we find ourselves avoiding, ignoring and even fighting changes that come into our lives.

Change is more acceptable perhaps if we have control over it. However when we do not have control, we are sometimes overpowered with fear and insecurity. Our defense mechanisms become alert and we prepare for battle.

Understanding that change is the only constant, will set us free. Choose to welcome change as a blessing in disguise, and we may just start to experience newness in our lives. It is a wonderful gift the universe offers us – to learn and grow constantly.

What will I choose to be today? – a stagnant pool of water – standing still, or a flowing river always ready to go with the flow.

Seed of Thought

2015-04-20_0807_001

We often describe thoughts as seeds because from one thought many more thoughts are generated. These thoughts go on to determine our words and actions.

If we step back and observe these thoughts, then we start to understand that the thoughts we are generating are our creation. So then the question that arises is ‘What is the seed behind my thoughts?’ ‘What is it within the self that initiates the thought in the first place?’

The seeds that create thoughts are the desires that we hold within our hearts. The ‘wants’ and ‘needs’ we have.

When we look closely within we will find that behind much of our thinking are feelings. When we are in touch with those feelings we will discover our ‘needs’ and ‘wants’ – the ‘desires’ that are the seeds behind those thoughts.

There are the physical needs for sure but even more powerful are the subtle needs of love, respect, power, authority, popularity, belonging and so forth. These then become the foundation from which thoughts are born and actions created. To varying degrees we all experience, at some time, fear, worry, anxiety. All these are born through desire!

What type of desires should I have to ensure the thoughts and feelings that emerge are positive and benevolent?

Real Confidence

cloud9

When we are skilled in a task or have the knowledge to do something then there is confidence. However as soon as we are exposed to a new challenge or there is a risk of not achieving success then our confidence begins to shake. We become hesitant based on subtle fears and doubts that enter the equation.

Real confidence however is a virtue and lies much deeper within the self. It is the ability to face the challenge knowing that we will be able to remain stable irrespective of the outcome.

When facing challenges we may experience some anxiety initially, however when I have confidence based on the right understanding, I am able to face the situation without being afraid of the result whether it is one of success of otherwise.

Let me be ready to face the challenge. Let me nurture the virtue of confidence.

Is this Love?

love_is

We may say we love a person or even a places or a things. But how do we define this love?

When we ‘like’ someone or something, or we feel our heart being pulled to the same repeatedly, we believe that to be love.

However there are two things: Love and Attachment
If we check the seed of our love and find that there is a ‘need’ within that – something we feel we cannot do without – then understand that this is not love but In fact it is attachment.

Attachment comes from a place of fear – the fear of not having or of losing that which I ‘love’.
Love, real love is pure and selfless; where there is love there can not be fear. It is a quality that is unlimited and something that we give. It is a ‘giving’ and not a ‘taking’ and In giving there cannot be fear of losing.

Look within your heart and check….Is this Love?

A Step of Fear

fear_thoughts

What is fear? Does it really exist or is it just an illusion?

Fear in fact is a feeling and feelings are created with our minds. We project thoughts from the past and hearsay into the present situation giving rise to doubt and concern. The quality of thoughts in turn creates what we call FEAR.

The feeling of fear can be crippling. Not only is my behaviour affected but it generates stress in my mental and emotional state of being.

If I can stop the flow of such thoughts for a moment and step inside, away from the influence of past experiences and all the external facts that seems to fuel fear, then I will arrive in a safe space. A space that is real and stable. The more I remain in this space the more I will be able to connect with ‘reality’ as opposed to the ‘illusion’ that is generated through influence.

To stay in this space and sustain the self from here will help be remove fear totally.

Fear is crippling , step away from fear.

I Believe

believe

Our intentions stem from our belief about who we are, where we are and why we are here.

If we believe we are physical and mortal beings, we will believe we are here to survive as long as possible. This creates a competitive mindset. It will drive us to get what we think we need before others, leading to competition and perhaps even the fear of not getting.

If we know we are souls – immortal and imperishable energy – then survival is no longer an issue and our intentions expand to include, connect with and enlighten others. Action will embrace the ability to help others and will be fully free from fear.

How do I live my life. Who do I believe I am?

Spiritual Identity

I

We are accustomed to identifying with the roles we play, our careers, religions etc. Our identity is often based on what we do rather than what we are.

Spirituality teaches us that we are spiritual beings: eternal and conscious beings. We realise the immortality of the soul in relation to the ever changing, unpredictable world we live in.

As human beings we want to be content and we want to also achieve many things in life. But underlying this drive is also a fear that we may never reach there. As a result we are in a constant race, trying to satisfy our ever growing needs in a constantly changing world.

When we understand our identity as a spiritual being then there is a shift in consciousness. This new sense of self brings with it great satisfaction and a sense of ‘having arrived’. It is a realisation, an awakening, which grounds us, giving us internal security and stability.

Time is asking us to change perspective and experience ourselves as a spiritual being and time does not wait.

Om Shanti
