Solitude

InheritenceI am drawn in to solitude. Somehow, within solitude I find comfort and a freedom for the self.
When I sit in solitude, alone……. I create a world made up of me and everything that I am. It is where I feel comfortable. Not that it is always a place of great happiness and joy, but even a lonely one of hopelessness and self-pity. It is a world I create and one which is limited by my own imagination and perception. A place I want to be and am ‘comfortable’ being in.
Is there another type of solitude that I can experience?
Solitude in the subtle company of God – this is a totally different space and experience. It is an environment in which there is power, attainment and happiness. All the ingredients that allow me to open up and explore the depths of spirituality and the richness of spirit.
I step back into this solitude – this is where I want to be.

Step into Freedom

2015-04-20_0804

Do you ever feel like you want to be free. Free from the baggage of the past and the uncertainty and expectations of the future?

Freedom holds within it an experience of lightness, being carefree and happy.
If this is truly what we want then what is it that binds us so tightly to all that we ‘by definition’ don’t want?

Somewhere, somehow there is a sense of ‘need’. We need these things, we need those people , we need to do certain things and know other things. We place this very heavy chain of ‘need’ around our necks. Needs based on perception and speculation and not based on any proof or guarantee.

Even though the soul will yearn to be free, once trapped in the chain of needs it is very difficult to see beyond that.
We have to step back and see things in a detached and objective way in order to see the reality.

Take a step of courage and let go of one ‘need’ that is tieing you down. Let go and experience a step into freedom.

Expected Freedom

expected_freedom

One of our deepest and most subtle desires in life is to be free. We want to be free from the pressures, responsibilities and commitments that burden us and can continue to increase through life.

However freedom is not necessarily a physical state of being. It is not that if I have wealth, education or position I will be free. The basis of our freedom or bondage is a much more subtle energy than that: it is based on our expectations.

We are the ones that free or bind ourselves to people, places, things and even situations. We bind ourselves with our expectations of how we want people to behave, and things and outcomes to be. We continue to feed expectations with our thoughts, words and actions and in doing so we tie ourselves and our happiness to expected results.

Expectations become the chains that bind us and tie us down. The more the expectations the heavier the chains. They become the basis of our happiness and achievement and also of our loss.

Let go of expectations and become free.

Bondage

When we feel trapped in circumstances or relationships then that becomes a bondage for us. It is not that we don’t like the people but what emerges is the feeling of not having a choice.

Feelings of bondage arise due to the presence of some expectation, even subtly, from the situation or relationship. We want something, or have a fear of losing something. This is actually what keeps us ‘trapped’.

If internally I insist on holding on to a branch and then say that I am not free from the tree, then who is the one keeping me in bondage? To be free I must let go of the branch. The branch cannot let go of me!

When bondage goes then there is freedom. Bondage and freedom are two sides of the same coin. It is a matter of perspective. It is a matter of my attitude to it and my awareness.

Let go and you are free . Learn the lesson of letting go.

The Soul

The soul is incognito. it cannot be seen with the eyes but it can be experienced.

A blind man cannot see the sun, nor can he touch it yet he knows that the sun exists. He experiences the warmth it gives.
If the blind man does not go out in the day time, when the sun is out, then he would not be able to experience the warmth. He would not know of the sun. But that does not mean that it does not exist.

The soul is invisible but it takes the support of matter which is visible. Because the body can be seen, we make the body the ‘identity’ and give it a name for reference. Then over time it becomes who I am, and I believe that too!

When we start believing that we are the body, that is when our story changes from one of freedom and happiness to that of bondage and fear. This is why we need to regain the awareness of the soul. The real me.

It needs a willingness to want to experience. It needs space and time to allow the self to experience something that is invisible.

Do I want to know who I am really?
