The Power to Give

generic_2

They say that in giving there is receiving….and in giving there is a lot of happiness.

When I perform acts for the benefit of others, without a need for a return, then these are acts of kindness, acts of great charity.

Do I have the capacity and the heart to give the best of myself to the world, to the people in my life, to the situations that come and challenge me?

What I need; What we need; What the world needs, is love.
The world needs love and each and every human soul in this world needs love.
Do I have love to give, do I even want to try?

Originally and eternally I the soul am peaceful and full of love…in fact I am love and if I am love then I can most definitely give love.

Believe it, feel it and give it.

Defects

Defects

It bothers us when people behave ‘badly’. Their negative behaviour takes up valuable space in our mind and disturbs the heart. It is amazing how something that belongs to someone else affects us so much. It is their negative quality, their weakness and yet it disturbs us.

When we are not internally full, when we ourselves lack happiness, peace and love, then our attention is diverted to search outside and see the faults and weaknesses of others. We even associate their behaviour with the reason for our pain, stress and unhappiness. This then becomes the foundation of misunderstanding in our relationships.

If I can focus internally on sustaining my own inner feelings, then the defects of others will not be visible to me, they will not disturb me.

Try it and see.

The Economy of Thoughts

ecomony_thoughts

Thoughts become more thoughts and can lead to a wasteful way of thinking. Stressful, worried, critical and negative thinking has become such a part and parcel of our lives.

To change thoughts we need to first let them go. To do this it is necessary to let go of the habit of ‘wanting’ and ‘needing’ a particular result from any person or situation.

The speed and quantity of our thoughts are fed by our own desires – subtle desires as well as gross. Whether or not we get the result or the goal we desire actually has no connection with the quantity of our thoughts. Thinking about it again and again will not change it nor make it the way we want. It will only create stress, anxiety and worse.

Be aware of the mechanics of how thoughts work and economise.

Thoughts are energy, don’t throw away that energy by wasting them. Be economical with your thoughts. Use them wisely.

Expected Freedom

expected_freedom

One of our deepest and most subtle desires in life is to be free. We want to be free from the pressures, responsibilities and commitments that burden us and can continue to increase through life.

However freedom is not necessarily a physical state of being. It is not that if I have wealth, education or position I will be free. The basis of our freedom or bondage is a much more subtle energy than that: it is based on our expectations.

We are the ones that free or bind ourselves to people, places, things and even situations. We bind ourselves with our expectations of how we want people to behave, and things and outcomes to be. We continue to feed expectations with our thoughts, words and actions and in doing so we tie ourselves and our happiness to expected results.

Expectations become the chains that bind us and tie us down. The more the expectations the heavier the chains. They become the basis of our happiness and achievement and also of our loss.

Let go of expectations and become free.

7 Steps to Happiness

7steps-happiness

The purpose of life is to experience happiness. Relationships are for sharing happiness.

Happiness is the eternal nature of the soul. it is not something that I have to earn but something I discover within the self.

The secrets to happiness:

  • Take advantage of every opportunity to give happiness to others through kindness in your thoughts, words and actions.
  • Live in the present moment and make the most of what you have now.
  • Let the past be the past. It cannot be changed no matter how much I re-think it.
  • Never hold on to anything or anyone. Change is a part of life, it can never remain the same.
  • Check your intentions. If I have a needy nature and always want to gain something from a situation or person, then I will never be able to hold on to happiness.
  • Don’t waste time looking at the weaknesses and mistakes of others. They are not in your control.
  • Appreciate and care for yourself. Remember that at the core you are a really lovely person.

Take another step towards happiness today!

Time Bank

How do I use my time? Am I accumulating with each day, hour, minute?

When we talk about accumulation it does not refer to material wealth but spiritual wealth: peace, love happiness and thus internal spiritual power. With each thought, word and action I choose to become a richer person or not. I need to check whether am I choosing to accumulate something within the self, or am losing something?

When I accumulate on a spiritual level I will feel contented and empowered. I will not be in a state of being ‘needy’.

If I am able to apply spiritual wisdom in response to any situation then I will find that internally I accumulate power, or at least I don’t lose my power. Feelings of pain or any expression of the vices will not present themselves, even within challenging scenes.

It takes courage to maintain a determination to accumulate as I will most definitely need to renounce temporary attainments from the influences of the vices within. But, that renunciation will very quickly give the experience of power in the form of peace, happiness etc.

What are you choosing to do today?

The Soul

The soul is incognito. it cannot be seen with the eyes but it can be experienced.

A blind man cannot see the sun, nor can he touch it yet he knows that the sun exists. He experiences the warmth it gives.
If the blind man does not go out in the day time, when the sun is out, then he would not be able to experience the warmth. He would not know of the sun. But that does not mean that it does not exist.

The soul is invisible but it takes the support of matter which is visible. Because the body can be seen, we make the body the ‘identity’ and give it a name for reference. Then over time it becomes who I am, and I believe that too!

When we start believing that we are the body, that is when our story changes from one of freedom and happiness to that of bondage and fear. This is why we need to regain the awareness of the soul. The real me.

It needs a willingness to want to experience. It needs space and time to allow the self to experience something that is invisible.

Do I want to know who I am really?
