Expected Freedom

expected_freedom

One of our deepest and most subtle desires in life is to be free. We want to be free from the pressures, responsibilities and commitments that burden us and can continue to increase through life.

However freedom is not necessarily a physical state of being. It is not that if I have wealth, education or position I will be free. The basis of our freedom or bondage is a much more subtle energy than that: it is based on our expectations.

We are the ones that free or bind ourselves to people, places, things and even situations. We bind ourselves with our expectations of how we want people to behave, and things and outcomes to be. We continue to feed expectations with our thoughts, words and actions and in doing so we tie ourselves and our happiness to expected results.

Expectations become the chains that bind us and tie us down. The more the expectations the heavier the chains. They become the basis of our happiness and achievement and also of our loss.

Let go of expectations and become free.

7 Steps to Happiness

7steps-happiness

The purpose of life is to experience happiness. Relationships are for sharing happiness.

Happiness is the eternal nature of the soul. it is not something that I have to earn but something I discover within the self.

The secrets to happiness:

  • Take advantage of every opportunity to give happiness to others through kindness in your thoughts, words and actions.
  • Live in the present moment and make the most of what you have now.
  • Let the past be the past. It cannot be changed no matter how much I re-think it.
  • Never hold on to anything or anyone. Change is a part of life, it can never remain the same.
  • Check your intentions. If I have a needy nature and always want to gain something from a situation or person, then I will never be able to hold on to happiness.
  • Don’t waste time looking at the weaknesses and mistakes of others. They are not in your control.
  • Appreciate and care for yourself. Remember that at the core you are a really lovely person.

Take another step towards happiness today!

Time Bank

How do I use my time? Am I accumulating with each day, hour, minute?

When we talk about accumulation it does not refer to material wealth but spiritual wealth: peace, love happiness and thus internal spiritual power. With each thought, word and action I choose to become a richer person or not. I need to check whether am I choosing to accumulate something within the self, or am losing something?

When I accumulate on a spiritual level I will feel contented and empowered. I will not be in a state of being ‘needy’.

If I am able to apply spiritual wisdom in response to any situation then I will find that internally I accumulate power, or at least I don’t lose my power. Feelings of pain or any expression of the vices will not present themselves, even within challenging scenes.

It takes courage to maintain a determination to accumulate as I will most definitely need to renounce temporary attainments from the influences of the vices within. But, that renunciation will very quickly give the experience of power in the form of peace, happiness etc.

What are you choosing to do today?

The Soul

The soul is incognito. it cannot be seen with the eyes but it can be experienced.

A blind man cannot see the sun, nor can he touch it yet he knows that the sun exists. He experiences the warmth it gives.
If the blind man does not go out in the day time, when the sun is out, then he would not be able to experience the warmth. He would not know of the sun. But that does not mean that it does not exist.

The soul is invisible but it takes the support of matter which is visible. Because the body can be seen, we make the body the ‘identity’ and give it a name for reference. Then over time it becomes who I am, and I believe that too!

When we start believing that we are the body, that is when our story changes from one of freedom and happiness to that of bondage and fear. This is why we need to regain the awareness of the soul. The real me.

It needs a willingness to want to experience. It needs space and time to allow the self to experience something that is invisible.

Do I want to know who I am really?

Happiness

Happiness is the food of life. It nourishes the soul and enables the spirit of enthusiasm and faith within us to flourish.

In the world people do many things on an external level to bring themselves happiness. However true and lasting happiness comes from the inside.

The subtle drama that goes on within the self becomes the basis of my happiness and sorrow. If I can maintain an attitude of good thoughts and good feelings within, no matter what is going on around me, then I will be able to remain stable in my state of happiness and contentment.
My own happiness will then also become an inspiration and serve others around me.

I have the choice to choose happiness at every moment. More than just an external expression, it is a fundamental state of being.

Choose happiness today.

Fortune

Each and every one of us is a child of God. Thus, each one of us has a predestined fortune guaranteed for us which no one can take away.

However the fortune remains dormant until it is awakened. And how can it be awakened?
Purity is needed to awaken fortune. Purity means, a mind and intellect that is not influenced by any vice.

When fortune is awakened then cease to cause anyone sorrow. In fact I will become bestowers of of happiness.

It is time to awaken your fortune.

Vices & Virtues

Originally and eternally the soul has the natural nature of being virtuous.

Over time and life, vices entre the soul. The soul creates the habit of expressing these vices rather than its virtues.
The repetition of an action creates a habit. The repetition of a habit creates a nature, a personality….and this is the story of the soul.

We have reached a point in time when all souls express vices so naturally and automatically that the concept that vices originally never existed cannot even be imagined.

It is not possible for vices to bring the fruit of happiness in the long run. The reality of vices is that they cause sorrow.
The vices of Lust, Greed, Anger, Attachment and Ego have enslaved the soul into being needy from the outside.

The virtues of Love, Peace, Joy, Purity and Wisdom will free the soul and allow it to be naturally in a state of contentment.

It is time to check and change. Am I using my virtues or the vices?

Om Shanti
