Sailing the Ship of Life

cloud9

Internally there is a belief that I am the captain of my ship and yet often I find the ship of my life sails in whichever direction the wind of challenges, situations, relationships, circumstances take it.

I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to ensure I reach my destination. It’s not what happens that determines my future, it’s how I respond to what happens.

Let me truly accept that am the captain of my ship and the responsibility that lies with that.

Then as the winds of challenges blow and circumstance arises – let me learn, adjust, gain experience and become wiser – until I learn to master the winds.

Then through the choppy waters of life and the stormy days I, the captain, will sail through and reach the other shore – it is my destiny after all.

The Gift of Silence

the_root_of_peacelessness

When we are born into this world we are given the gift of life. Our senses awaken to allow us to experience life to the fullest possible.

We use our physical senses – the eyes and the ears, our nose and mouth to experience and interact with life itself…Wow! such an amazing gift!

But the greatest gift that we receive in this life is the ability to step back, from all that we know as life, detach from those invaluable senses that bring sound and colour into life, and step into silence.

We are not aware when the sound and colour moves into noise and pollution and in that ignorance we also become polluted with the same. Then we lose our happiness and contentment.

Take time to switch off the senses and step into the silence that awaits you within. The sacred still space of power and realisation.

Become aware of the greatest gift of life … the invisible, soundless silence of the soul.

How Lucky do I feel?

The_secret

I cannot change the cards I am dealt with in life, but how I play them is totally in my hands.

In good times I feel luck is on my side, and in not so good times, it is easy to blame the poor cards.

But if I take courage and choose to remain positive, I may just surprise myself to find that it is exactly during the ‘not so good times’ that new opportunities present themselves. Take the opportunity and undoubtedly I am on my way to tap into unhidden potential that lies dormant within me.

Lucky are those who choose to look beyond and seize the opportunities that arise in times of adversity.

Where Am I Going?

maya2

I the soul take birth on this earth into this body.

The earth becomes my stage and the body becomes my costume I wear to act my part in this story of life, within my journey of many, many lives.

The journey is long and there are many challenges along the way…but I the soul am the traveller and I will continue to move on from one scene of the drama to the next…from one life to the next.

I came onto this earth alone and empty handed and it will be the same when I leave.
I cannot predict my tomorrow, I have no control even of my today.
The only guarantee I have, from the moment of birth is that, in time, I will leave this body.

I am immortal, but the body is temporary and perishable…it will die.
This scene in this body, this costume, will finish but my story and my journey continues….

Where have I come from and where am I going?
Without knowing what and where, I the traveller, I the soul, just continues to travel aimlessness through life. From birth to birth from story to story.

I ask myself, where do I want to go in this journey called life?

Where am I going?

Disturbances

Disturbances

External situations that happen are out of our control. Some situations we understand and thus accept and this allows us to let go and move on. Others remain unjustified in our hearts and minds and thus create disturbances in our life both externally and internally.

Situations and challenges will come, whether they are logical, justified or not. This is part and parcel of life. The realisation comes when we learn to see and accept that it is actually not the situation that is causing the disturbance in our life but our own inability to handle it.

It is not the traffic jam on the road that disturbs us, but our inability to handle the internal disturbance caused by the traffic jam that disturbs us.

More than the event, it is often our reaction to the problem that allows chaos and disturbances in our life. Change the internal reaction and the situation will no longer defeat us.

Om Shanti
