Am I Peaceful?

2015-04-20_1250To be peaceful I need to recognize that I will not experience the absolute state of peace through places, situations or even feelings. Peace is a state of being.

The mind wanders and scurries around in all directions such that even when I find myself in a peaceful setting I may not always experience peace.

It is often said that the mind holds the key to being peaceful. I therefore endeavour to quieten my thoughts, but I quickly discover this is not enough. I will have simply achieved the state of ‘not thinking’ – which may allow me to experience fleeting moments of peace. However, to experience the absolute state of peace I need to make my thoughts and therefore my thinking peaceful.

I become watchful and attentive to my every thought. I ask myself ‘how peaceful are my thoughts?’ I check and change, check and change.

As I begin to experience the state of peace, my mind cooperates and becomes patient and trusting. So begins a wonderful relationship where I find my mind is generating fewer but more powerful thoughts. My mind no longer wanders and scurries around thinking, re-thinking and over thinking. Peace becomes my natural nature once again.

Fear is an Illusion!

boxed_inFear is definitely an illusion – It is not real. It is generated through our thoughts and manifests in our feelings.

Our thoughts create a story in the mind which then generates fear. Even though the story has not yet unfolded – and may never do so, we create and experience that fear by just thinking about it. There may be a very real possibility of danger in our story, but fear is a choice.

We can either live our dreams or live our fears. For many of us we find our living is based on a foundation of fears!!
Our fears are essentially the anxiety of how to deal with the unknown – loosing face, being wrong, failure. Getting clarity on the root cause of fear will help diffuse the ticking anxiety bombs and release our creative power.

When there is darkness there can be a lot of fear. To eliminate fear we need to bring light – the light of awareness, of understanding and enlightenment.

Let us make a choice to bring light into our fear.
Om Shanti

What is the Answer?

Wreasonshen challenges present themselves in our lives, often our immediate response is to analyse and find a solution – what is the answer?
What happened? Why? Where? When? How? In desperation for an answer we allow our mind to go into overdrive – thinking, re-thinking – over-thinking!

If I can take a moment to stop the torrent of these thoughts and turn inwards to see what is going on within perhaps I will begin to understand what is happening.

Instead of asking ‘why the situation?’, I ask myself ‘why is it so challenging? Perhaps rather than looking outside for the answers, I look within and unravel what is going on there, then I will begin to find answers that hold the deepest secrets about me and the answers that can transform my life.

Ask the right questions and surely the right answers will follow.

Forgive and Become Free

Blame

There is often a misconception about what it means to forgive. We believe that we are doing someone a favour by forgiving them, but are we really?

What happened cannot be changed. But as long as I choose to hold onto that scene it will continue to create walls of mistrust, anger and dislike in my mind and in my heart.

The longer I hold on, the stronger these walls will grow and my future vision and actions will lack clarity. If I do not learn to let go of it, I will carry the experience of the situation with me into the future as a heavy burden.

It is not a matter of who was right or not in the situation – the question is – do I want to carry the pain of that scene with me throughout my life – allowing it to influence my thinking, feeling and responses forever more?

To forgive means to free oneself from a situation. Let go and become free.
